Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that aims to correct the shape, size and appearance of the breast removed for cancer or other medical reasons. The procedure involves creating a breast integrity using breast implants or the patient's own tissue, usually from the abdomen, pelvis or back. Reconstruction can be done immediately after the removal of the breast or delayed until the patient has completed other treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Breast reconstruction helps a woman regain her confidence and sense of femininity after the emotional and physical trauma of losing a breast.
